Our best and worst moments occur within social relationships, research shows
"Our best and worst moments occur within social relationships, research shows
"-- In the first study of its kind, researchers have found compelling evidence that our best and worst experiences in life are likely to involve not individual accomplishments, but interaction with other people and the fulfillment of an urge for social connection.
..... research suggests that the events that end up being most important in our lives, the events that bring us the most happiness and also carry the potential for the most pain, are social events -- ...... connecting to others and feeling their connections to us.
It was not independent events or individual achievements like winning awards or completing tasks that affected participants the most .......... but, moments of connecting to others that that touched peoples' lives the most."

Sorry I haven't been around guys. I just got so burned out on everything internet for a while, that I took a little break. Needed to refocus on things - sort through all the mess in my head, and adapt.
I've got a lot of catching up to do, so I'd better start reading now.
Carol, I feel like the others, and think we should talk about whatever we want here, and should make no apologies for it. Like Jan, I like hearing what's going on in your life too, and if we can't discuss our problems here (along with everything else), then this place wouldn't be what set it up to be. You always said, anything goes!
I'm like Solar (I've got the power, like him!) - I'm here in spirit if not 'always' in person. I'm sorry for your boat problems, and understand your frustration. But, you know what Murphy says: If anything can go wrong, it will - and at the worst possible time. I've found that to always be true. Chalk it up to experience, and don't let the guy take your boat out any more.
I'm am so impressed and think it is so admirable that you don't mention to your roomie at work. That is so very kind of you, and one of the things that made me feel a little chatty again.
.... love the pictures on the last post. Kinda hated to put this one up. You not only have more hummers than me, but your are much plumper. I think I must get all the anorexic ones, although you wouldn't know it by the way the nectar goes down.
And Jan! I'm looking forward to your comleted quilt post too. Please don't let this one hold you up.
I'm glad that you're enjoying the change of weather so much. Like Carol said, it's still summer here. Feels about the same as August. I checked the weather where we lived in Ca., and saw that the morning are cool there too. I didn't quite realize how much hotter it is than there, or else I'd just forgotten.
Your mornings out on your front porch sound glorious. What a great neighborhood you live in.
Coreen, I'm glad to see that your happily enjoying your sports season - and your weather. We could actually use a little of that rain down here ('course, there's never enough rain for me).
And Solar, glad that you're doing well. You need to check in a little more often!
One is the Loneliest Number
Nice post Chloe.!
Two things come to mind right away: First is that it is one of the explanations why we ( some of us ) are like sheep.
We want to be liked so much that we imitate the powerful, and the rich in everything that they do. People want to dress and act like them so much, that they don't notice and don't care when they are lied, and cheated.
The second thing is, the competition thing that is innate in all of us..."Survival of the fittest" Most people have this part of evolution a little backwards:
An example would be that we are always doing this within the same species......when a cheetah attacks a herd of Antelope, the Antelope runs for their lives...
They are running against each other...the slowest one loses...the competition to live, the survival of the fittest is out running the next guy....sorta like us, we are always running against each other.
That is not to say that co-operation does not exist....this is another thing..."Tribal"....sometimes good, sometimes bad....
Oh, one of the lost lambs returns to the flock. Nice to hear from you Chloe and nice post. Social networks do give us the opportunity to meet and hang with neat people that we don't always have the opportunity to meet and hang with where we live.
Over our lifetime we do make those special friends but what life giveth, life often taketh away. Like Jan, one of my bestest friends ever. I only got to keep her for... not enough years. A phone relationship never quite did it for me. For me, it was either you are in my life in some small way everyday or you're dead to me. Talking to my friend every once in a while on the phone just wasn't enough. It's funny how when you talk to someone every day, you can find lots to talk about but if you talk to someone not that often, there seems to be a strain finding things to talk about.
New friends, who are compatable, are not easy to come by. You're lucky if you meet a few in your lifetime. You're luckier if they don't move off somewhere and you lose touch. I'm glad I found Jan again and found you guys.
There is something about networking here that almost feels like we are all close together, not many miles apart. And the best part, I don't have to dust or straighten up before you visit. LOL.
Thanks Carol, I agree with all those things you said.
"They are running against each other...the slowest one loses...the competition to live, the survival of the fittest is out running the next guy.."
Hi Solar,
Sometimes, when we've gone through rough times, that's what it feels like.
But I'm thinking that it's better not to be part of the herd in the first place. Also, not to expect much from others (especially politicians!), and then when things do go well, we can be pleasantly surprised.
The only time that I feel REALLY good, is when I have a strong feeling of gratitude. Whenever I feel resentful or taken advantage of - or any of those things that go along with those feelings, then I'm miserable myself. So the trick for me is to work hard to feel grateful for whatever I can find to feel grateful for - and getting through all the rest the best way I can. Because if I don't think this way, then it would all be a downward spiral.
No matter how bad things (may feel like they) are going, I go to sleep at night hearing Scarlett O'Hara saying: 'Tomorrow's another day'. And sure enough, it all eventually works out. We can't change the world, but we can change the way we see it.
... see you tomorrow.
Oh boy! You guys have brought me luck. I just saw a few drops of rain coming now.
Keep up the rain dance! I want more!!
I heard some things that crazy Christine from Delaware is saying that kinda impresses me. Some of the weird anti-sex stuff she said is coming from years back. I wonder if she has evolved any from those attitudes. But since she's not in my neck of the woods, I'll just have to trust that the good peeps in Delaware will check it out.
I have enough trouble with the politicians in my neck of the woods. No matter what side of the fence they are on here, they have to somewhat cater to the desires of the swamp people. Even though I've been here all my life, fishing and food and the location of my abode, is about all I have in common with most of my swamp people. I still love them though.
I thought I heard that the storm down in Mexico was going to keep it dry here. I don't see any chance of rain in our forecast for the next 4 days, maybe an accidental shower. I felt a few fine drops when I came home but I think it was some hummer pee pee. There were so many flying over my head when I came in.
Well, I'll have to pick up boat tomorrow morning since boatman is out of town this afternoon. I think he is looking for money. I hope he finds it.
Yes Jan, Boatman is roomie's boyfriend. That is what made the relationship neat to begin with and also what makes what happened so distressing. I felt betrayed by his wreckless disregard for my property, that I was so willing to share and the same with the trust.
I was as happy to have the boat fixed up to share as I was to have it for my own use. This would not have happened if he would have slowed down and trimmed the motor up. He knows the river and he knows boats. The new motor has power trim, a little button you push that tilts the motor up. He didn't trim up the motor and he went thru a mine field like a bat outta hell. He said he just wasn't thinking. I had just shelled out $7000 for that motor. It had only been in the water for less than three hours, at least that was how long he was out. I never even got to set foot in it yet.
Two things he told me when he brought her back in really disturbed me. One was that he had torn the skeg off of two other boats he had. Wish I had known that before. The other is that he could have lied to me and let me think I had done it. Yeah, like that woulda worked.
I guess you can tell that I'm not over it yet. I'm trying. Maybe when baby gets home, fixed.
Chloe, I just turned my computer on and here was your post. It had your name on it before I read who posted it. Great post!
And it wasn't just going to be all give. I was getting help in taking care of the boats. It was going to be an even exchange. Now what do I do?
Jan, I knew exactly who posted it before I checked the signature. It had Chloe written all over it.
Chloe,
"Sometimes, when we've gone through rough times, that's what it feels like.
But I'm thinking that it's better not to be part of the herd in the first place. Also, not to expect much from others (especially politicians!), and then when things do go well, we can be pleasantly surprised."
I wasn't speaking in metaphors....that is the true meaning of Survival of the fittest:
Two people are out in the forest...up comes a bear, and starts chasing them....one of them starts running...the other one say's " we both know that it does not good to try to run from the bear" the other one says " im not trying to out run the bear...all I have to do is to out run you" that is what survival of the fittest is....but I know what you are saying....and I agree...I have never been part of the herd...pretty much a loner...with lots of real friends....just like here>!!
I love that bear story Solar. I'm not too fit but I do hope I survive.
The news media and some of the politicians want us to believe that we, the American people, don't want to allow the tax cuts to expire for the 2% of the richest people in the country. I don't think I can stand to hear that one more time and I don't believe it for one minute. It's total BS. In fact, I rather think that we, the people, would like for them to pay all the taxes.
And they want us to believe that those 2% are the ones who put money into the economy. They put money into Wallstreet, not into the economy. The rest of us put money into the economy and whatever we have left, those 2% are stealing from us, in some way or other.
And I do know why our politicians don't want to raise taxes on the ultra rich. It's because they are the ultra rich.
Chloe, I didn't have time to write much before. I think your post is right on! It sure fits me and my life. Good, bad or indifferent, I would not trade the relationships I have had throughout my life. I certainly treasure the old ones that I still have and the new ones I have made.
This week, I had 2 old friends call me from out of the blue - 2 women I knew in high school. One of them I have been in touch with throughout my life since about age 10. I was spending the night at her house when her dad came home from work at midnight. He and my dad both worked at American Airlines. He was having pain- her mother took him to the hospital and we went back to sleep. The next day her dad died. We were both about 13. This is a memory that has been so clear since then.
Carol, you missed a big win tonite...Yankees
were behind 4 to 3, were down to their last strike in the 9th, 2 men on, Alex at bat & he
crushes a 3 room homer to go ahead & Mariano
nails it down in the bottom of the 9th for the
win...& there is just no way they should have been behind the Baltimore Orioles...& Tampa
lost tonight so the Yankees are back in 1st place right now...the 4 game series with Tampa starting Monday at the Stadium will be very
interesting....
Chloe, good work...glad you are rested...
for me it all comes down to one word...friends...
Coreen, I had the game up and was watching my stickguy since it was down to the wire and they were behind. I looked away and back and my computer had just turned itself off. It did that one other time. No idea why. No Windows update. I turned it back on and just finished running a virus scan before pulling up the Internet again.
I had just been thinking before that, it would be a nice time for A-Rod to hit a homer.
I was also monitoring the Tampa stick game. Congrats girl. I was on top of it until my computer decided to have a mind of it's own. Weird.
I hadn't said anything earlier because I knew you would not be happy with what was happening. It's weird how those BB games can change in just a few minutes. Can't look away or have your computer turn itself off.
It's because you need the northeast connection
to know what's happening...
And just think how great it will be when you
get to see the guys, not just the sticks..you
won't know who is who!!!....
Derek is 2, Alex is 13, Mark is 25, Robbie is
24, Jorge is 20, & Mariano is 42....& oh Andy
is going to pitch on Sunday...& he was right
at the dugout entrance to high5 Alex when he
came back after the home run...
And stop worrying about the state of the world
politics for now...did you forget its after 5
on Friday??!!....Time for yourself...
You're right Coreen.
About being after 5 and not really knowing what the guys look like. All the stick guys look the same. Will have to wait for the playoffs.
Forgot,
On the Larry King show...unlocking the mystery of the brain....reruns all night I think...will tape this one, looks like good stuff...matter? gooey stuff...
"This week, I had 2 old friends call me from out of the blue - 2 women I knew in high school. "
Hi Jan,
That was quite a story you were recalling about spending the night with your friend, when you were so young, and her losing her father the very next day. I can't imagine how devastated she was, and you as well. It's almost like it was meant to be, that you were there for her that night. I would imagine an experience like that would bond you for life.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Solar,
Thanks for mentioning that Larry King program (I would have never known about it if you didn't). I didn't watch or record it, but I looked up the transcript, and it is right on! Exactly what I've been thinking about for many years (but it's a lot harder than it sounds).
CNN LARRY KING LIVE
Change Your Mind, Change Your Life
"KNIGHT: Most people do not understand that the greatest addiction in their life is their emotional addiction, emotional addiction to past experiences. We gain our experiences in our life that begin to define us by the time we're about 20 years old. Then we sort of go on automatic. Then we keep playing back the emotions instead of having a new idea and a new thought. So people don't realize that they are led every day by their feelings. They want another emotional head. So they keep reexperiencing the same emotion no matter people, places times, events, no matter who they are, who they meet, they are after the same emotion.
.... Instead of going on automatic, which everyone in the world does, you stop that and say, this day I'm going to create my day. I'm going to create a day with a new thought, a new experience. I'm going to create the reality of this day and, from the new thought that I create, the new sentences that I say I am, I will manifest that day. That day brings a brand new emotion, no old and lousy.
We're treading water and we're -- we don't reinvent ourselves. We don't realize that our future is being consumed by our past. The day that we realize, we wake up and go, the reason I'm depressed, the reason I'm uninspired is because I can pretty much predict how I'm going to feel about today. I can pretty much predict everything I'm going to saying today. That's uninspiring. We were really created to be creators." Larry King show unlocking the mystery of the brain
... this kind of information is just one of the reasons we need you here Solar.
- I got another 'Message too large' when I posted that last one, but after I reloaded a couple of times, it was there. I guess they're just giving me a warning - I don't get it.
" im not trying to out run the bear...all I have to do is to out run you"
Love that story!
Well, hubby had to work today (makin' more hay while it's still hot and sunny in Houston), so Em and I are go to take a little jaunt around town, before it gets too crowded out there. The crowds have reached all the way out here where we live now. Too much progress, but with it comes a lot more convenience.
See you all later.
... oops, came back to leave this link of good news (and one other). You probably already know it, but unless I missed it, no ones mentioned it here yet.
Obama picks consumer adviser, dodging Senate fight
"In a poke in the eye to the financial community, President Barack Obama on Friday named Elizabeth Warren, an aggressive consumer advocate and Wall Street adversary, to oversee creation of a new agency to regulate banks, lenders and credit card companies.
Sidestepping a Senate confirmation fight -- for now -- Obama stopped short of nominating Warren to actually head the new Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection. Instead, his action will let the Harvard Law School professor and expert on bankruptcy move quickly to shape the bureau." http://www.mail.com/Article.aspx/politics/0/APNews/General-Politics/20100917/U_US-Obama-Consumer-Protection?pageid=1
... and this (not so good news):
"The number of people with health insurance in the United States dropped for the first time in 23 years, the U.S. Census Bureau said Thursday.
There were 253.6 million people with health insurance in 2009, the latest data available, down from 255.1 million a year earlier.
http://money.cnn.com/2010/09/16/news/economy/census_latest_uninsured_numbers
Chloe, I hope ya got some hay baled and that you two girls had a fun day out. Did ya hit the mall play area? I kinda bet ya did.
I got baby back. She's in her stall. I was planning on fishing in the morning but after mowing the grass this evening, I can barely breath. That dang rib. It wasn't too bad yesterday but today it has been really killing me and then I went out and rode that lawnmower over the bumps. The ground is dry and bumpy. I had trouble walking back into the house. The problem is that broken rib is on the right side and I have to do everything with my right arm.
I'm icing that rib now and I did, slowly, prepare all my fishing rigs, just in case I can move in the morning. I think I just about broke every fishing line last week. Ms. Klutz here. If there's a stump, I'll find it. I have three of my rigs set up with bobbers for Crappie and three for bass; a brush hog plastic selection, a spinner bait and a nice top water lure. You must be prepared because if you get out there and don't have all the options available, that is exactly what you will figure you needed to catch something.
Coreen, do ya think your Yanks have enough of a lead now....oh, it's over. I was a little tied up.
Well, I'm up and breathing but a coffee cup is about all I need to be carrying around this morning. I wasn't being realistic. Who am I kiddin? What crappy luck. Again, not what I was going for. I guess I need to spell this out for the Big Guy in the Sky. It's
C R A P P I E, I want. The ie not the y. Check Wikipedia, you created that.. or had one of us do it.
Fishing is a lot of work people. It may be called recreation, but it's work. Being out here, at least knocks out a couple of the steps. No hooking the boat to the vehicle and driving to the put in place and backing her in the water and hoping you didn't forget to put the plug in or unhook the straps.
I forgot that plug thingy a couple of times. Last time I did that I was glad I had one of my friends who had some big boobs with me. There was this toothless fellow gawking at her so while I had his attention, I asked him to stick his hand down in the water to put the plug in. I'll tell ya, big boobs may be a load to carry around, something I haven't had to experience, but they sure do come in handy at times, when you need help.
Having a man around would be helpful for loading up that boat. Honey, call me when it's time to go. I'll have the sandwiches ready. They are good for the brut strength and for those menial tasks of getting the rods and reels ready, but don't expect them to think, as I recently found out. Slow down honey, you are heading for a mine field...Maybe ya oughta trim up that motor honey...
Not having a man around full time, I haven't had to experience the, "not thinking", characteristic of the male species. But being a nurse, I've often had to try to patch up the results of it.
I've never seen any women come into the hospital for using gasoline to start a fire or throwing it on the fire to get it to burn better. Or those nasty chain saw injuries to the back of the lower leg or the head. There are instructions for using those chainsaws guys. I know, I read them. They are written for your protection! But no, reading directions would be wussified. I know that many of you girls musta lost some life expectancy having one of those testosterone loaded creatures around all the time to worry about. It might help if you had EMT training. I think that should be in the direction book for women.
And I do believe that the level of testosterone is inversely proportional to the degree of risky, not thinking, behavior. Older guys seem to think smarter/safer.
Actually that should be directly proportional, not inversely proportional.
And Solar...I welcome your rebuttal.
Hope people heard Pres Clinton on MTP. He's not only smart, Obama is also, but he has the experience we needed. With Hillary, we could had both smarts and experience, and Bill, on the side.
Carol, I am enjoying your monologue. I agree about the testosterone thing too. Not all men are like that. Former hubby (you know who I mean) was very cautions - to a fault. Sometimes I wanted to scream - take a CHANCE! As time went on I realized he was somewhat OCD. I think OCD is inherited. My youngest (his son) is also a little OCD and so is his oldest daughter. My 2 oldest sons - not a bit (different dad).
"Or those nasty chain saw injuries to the back of the lower leg or the head."
LOL, Do you remember how impulsive Terry was as a kid. He cut his thigh doing some chain sawing. He was in his 20's. As he has aged, he is much more cautious. He cleaned it up - put some bandages on it to hold the tissue together and drove himself to the ER. He obviously didn't cut an artery - thank God!
Carol, your rib sounds so painful. I don't know how you managed to mow the grass and get out and fish too with a cracked or broken rib.
Carol, you are so right. People can say what they want about Clinton, but he is one of the smartest presidents we have ever had about politics and foreign policy.
Clinton was Gov of ARK for 12 years and even his enemies will admit that the state did better economically when he was Gov than at any other time. One of his priorities was higher education. Many people think Ark is a backward state but there are many more universities in Ark per population than many other states. Lots of money in northwest ARk too. And those with money put it into programs for families and education. Plus ARK got Hillary free of charge.
Jan, haven't fished since the cracked rib. I caught up on chores yesterday and was preparing to do my fishing today and tomorrow. I knew, after completing the chores last evening, that fishing was most likely out of the question, at least for today. Too much hauling to do and I've been keeping that down the carrying hummer water, coffee, and my clothes.
I might try to take the boat out later. Maybe.
And Jan, mowing just involves sitting on a seat and operating a joystick. It's like a Hoveround. The part that was difficult was riding over the rough ground, bouncing.
Coreen, I found the Yanks on my TV. Since I'm stuck sitting on my ass today, I was channel surfing. It's about all I can do that doesn't hurt too much. Well, while channel surfing,lo and behold, there, on TBS were the Yanks, live, real people, real game to watch.
Another thing that doesn't hurt much is eating. So today, it's sitting on my butt, eating.
Whew! It always makes me nervous when they purposely walk a runner to load up the bases. Trying to force an out?? I guess it worked like they wanted it to do, but still made me nervous.
Watching this stuff live beats the heck outta watching that stickman game. Listening to all the trivia they report is one extra bonus. Can't say watching the pitcher spit is an extra. The stickmen don't do that.
Oh no...
Carol, good for you for taking care of yourself. I have been out hunting t-shirts at thrift stores. I am a thrift store junkee. Anything I need I check the thrift stores first. This t-shirt is for the oldest of the Ark grandaughters. She has been the tom-boy of the two. She will be 18 in January. She didn't have as many pretty or cute t-shirts like the 13 y/o GD. So I am having to hunt some for her. They have both spent some summers here and she is the more serious one. She loves to visit historical places, museums and US and state parks. We have taken them to Carlsbad Caverns, Grand Canyon, and Durango to visit the Mesa Verda (ancient indian villages). We did visit Roswell NM too. That is where there was an alleged visit by aliens. So I found her a Durango, Arizona (says Grand Canyon on t-shirt) and a Roswell t-shirt with a pic of a little alient (looks like ET). I also found her some cute NM and Albuq t-shirts. I want her t-shirt quilt to be as attractive has her sister's. The t-shirts are in perfect-almost-new condition and were only $1 -$3. each. So that was my trek for the day.
The t-shirts are for a t-shirt quilt.
We had a riding mower in AR. We had a big lot there. John loved to mow the lawn. If it is not a riding mower I have to hire someone to mow.
Chloe, I have been thinking a lot lately of the stuff you posted here. It sure mirrors a lot what Tarp says in his book. I have been so stressed lately over a property issue with my sis. I won't go into it as it is quiet involved. But I am having sleep problems again - and sure it is due to this. I was reading Tarp's book again last night and some of the things in the book really struck home for me.
"The principal way to end suffering is to recognize that egoic patters of thinking directly cause our afflictions. ..our day-to-day reality is caused by how we use our minds, and we must learn that...our egocentric habits of mind can be terminated. We have a ...choice to break these negative habits and regenerate new integral patterns ...that bring us into alignment and harmony with our Selves and with each other."
"egoic patterns"
Jan, It's funny you should mention this right now, because I've been thinking about it a lot too. I ran across this video the other day and DVD of his, but it hasn't arrived yet. But I'm going to make a point of studying up on it. I haven't had much time to get into it yet, but plan to get started next week.
It seems like a lot of these philosophies, these school of thought, all are talking about something very similar, but go about explaining it from a different point of view.
Jan, I think you are onto something. This guy has one dvd on the art of observation, teaching us to look at things differently than we have in the past, and explains it very clearly. It reminds me of that class that you and John took on 'Mindfulness' - the same type of reasoning.
This Youtube (I'm linking) is about 20 mins or so, so when you have some time, it may be worth a listen. I think these ideas can help us deal with our problems much more efficiently and less emotionally. His ideas seem to make it more clear that the way we see things change the world. I'm not even touching the tip of the iceberg yet, but I have a good feeling about this train of thought. At least I plan on learning what I can, and see how I feel about it when I'm through. We know so little about reality vs. perception, because we're too involved in our problems.
I have no doubt that we create our own reality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE8yP5PPdHU
... he also talks about why we feel so much stress.
Jan, I do remember Bob as an ultra safety oriented guy. Hey, that's one of the things I liked about him. I felt safe around him. I've known some other guys like that. Being around them allows me to let my guard down. I always feel like I'm the safety chairman when I'm in a group, especially when guys are involved. But I still say that older guys are a lot more into safety. I guess they wanna live and finally realize they aren't immortal.
I was a little into risky behavior when I was a teenager but my first job in ICU/CCU cured that. I finally realized just how vulnerable humans were.
I'm sorry you're going through all this stress right now, Jan. There's nothing worse than having these things that come along and seem to turn our world upside down. I know all I've ever really wanted from life is to feel contentment - but there always seems to be something that comes along to disturb that possibility. A disillusionment, a (seemingly) insurmountable problem - any number of things. And when it involves a family member it seems so much worse.
We're all capable of so much more than we are aware of. And happiness should be our most sought after goal.
Guys are bigger risk takers Carol. They also take on a lot more of the more dangerous jobs - thank goodness. Like you said before, testosterone creates such a different behavior pattern.
"... our day-to-day reality is caused by how we use our minds.....
We have a ...choice to break these negative habits and regenerate new integral patterns ...that bring us into alignment and harmony with our Selves and with each other."
Jan, I love that quote of yours. We always have a choice.
The guys on that video is a quantum physicist. Targ is also a physicist. These guys take a very scientific approach to the subject, and still come out at about the same place.
I think Dr. Joe Dispenza is much easier to understand though. He doesn't go off on as many tangents. Plus, I know he'll lead to other people (hopefully, some will be women) that will make things even clearer.
Nite
Chloe that guy is interesting. I ordered that movie, What the Bleep... when it came out years ago. Big sis told me about the movie when it came out but it was never available at the shows here or at the video places so I had to order it from Amazon.
We don't get too many of those types things here. Not that many people interested. Big sis, being in a more enlightened area of the country, lets me in on those kind of things when she sees them. Or I learn about them on C2C.
Carol, What movie are you talking about?
You're right, the west coast is more into that type of stuff than people are out here.
I'll have to check back in the morning. Have a good evening, and I'll see you tomorrow.
... I think Jan is really on to something.
I was listening to Glynis McCants last night on C2C. She's a numerologist. She's really interesting, very upbeat. A neat lady.
My lifepath number is 5. What is yours? You find that number by adding each number in your birthdate together. When you get a double digit number at the end of that, add those two numbers until you get a single digit number.
She even found her husband using numerology. Her first husband and her were very toxic. She said there are combinations of lifepath numbers that are very toxic together.
My lifepath number is five and this is how she describes fives: "FIVES seek freedom, fun, adventure. If they do not live the adventure, their lives become way too dramatic. They are the natural detectives and celebrators of life (holidays are usually their specialty). 5s have a hard time settling down and have a fear of being trapped or smothered in a relationship."
What is your lifepath number? You don't have to give away your birthdate to say.
"What the Bleep do we know" There might have been more than one with similar titles.
Red carpet primiere for DWTS tomorrow night Jan. I think Sarah Palin will be there to see her daughter. (gag me with a spoon)
Carol,
You are but a fool, dariling I love you, even tho......nice song huh?
You are bascly right about men...but then look at what you just did with a broken rib.!!! rest up.! The fish will be there another day, delegate the cutting of the grass...to you new house guests....
Chloe,
We have very little free will....keep reading things about the brain.....we can change things a little, but basiclly they are innate....
Reading ( still) "The Red Queen" Sex and the evolution of human nature....after reading some of these books, im starting to get it...and my admiration for Spinoza keeps growing and growing.....he was a deep, deep thinker, that combined what most, or all of these new scientest are now getting ( since maybe 1980's) between the correlation of mind and body......the mind grew the body....therfore it is the boss of it all....it tells you what you need to do to keep it thinking........of you the body...
sorry for all of the mistakes...no time to correct them....later
Solar, it was my grass not roomie's grass so it wouldn't be appropriate to ask her to mow it. Right now the relationship is a little strained anyway after her boyfriend wrecked my motor. I never discussed it with her but he probably did and may have told her it was just a simple accident. She may be thinking I should have paid for the damage to my new motor instead of him or she may have even had to pay for it herself. Don't know. None of my business.
And just sitting on a lawnmower, that is very much like a electric wheelchair, was not risky nor was how I broke the rib, laying across my car seat. I have paper ribs from lots of previous fractures. I thought I knew all the ways I could break one but I'll have to add that to my list of things not to do.
None of the previous rib fractures were the result of any risky behavior. It's the result of too many years of osteoporosis.
Also, I have found too often thru the years that when someone else uses my stuff to help me out, they often run over something that tears up the mower. Lots of little land mines out here. I know where they all are.
Probably one thing that may have contributed to my breaking that rib last week was that I was really pissed off/stressed last week. That's when these things happen. I didn't want to be pissed off, it was a grief response. I can read all these nice books and articles on how we can change our stinkin thinkin but I find that most of the time, it just takes time. Now that baby is fixed, I'm cool.
My best coping mechanism for dealing with anger and stress is to talk about it. Like I said last week, this was pretty much the only place I could bitch. Probably the best option anyway. Y'all can page down.
I was watching Swamp People last night. They were talking about racing to get those alligators in before the cold front hit. Alligator season here is in Sept and I was thinking what Louisiana are they living in?? We seldom have a cold front in Sept. I did figure out that those shows were filmed last Sept. I seem to remember that we did have an earlier Fall last year. Don't think it started in Sept though.
I was planning on taking today off to go fishing but since that's out, I'll go to work. I have less physical things to do at work than when I'm at home. It's mostly involves pushing a ink pen. I'm not going to waste a vacation day not having fun.
Good to see that you managed to relax a bit Carol...& did not try to go fishing til your
ribs heal...but the lawnmower riding probably
didn't advance the healing process...
It figures the time you get to see the Yankees
play...our best weapon, Mariano shows he is actually human & gives up just the 2nd home run
of the year....a loss that should not have happened, but the good thing was Andy pitched
very well....tonight they do it all again...Tampa is in the house...
Just heard that the hot weather has advanced
the pumpkin season locally, they are ready now....usually not til the beginning of October....
And yes the weather has come back to being
quite nice...warm, dry days & cool nights...
Here's a mystery solved...my computer's speakers stopped working one day after the guy
set it up(mentioned it in the past)...it sounded great & I did something
& it disappeared...that was a year ago...I had
tried to fix it many times...disconnected, reconnected wires, it kept saying it was working but nothing...this weekend I disconnected everything & moved the computer to
a different place in the room & today, I heard
beeps & surprise now the sound is back...I tried...have no idea what I did to get it back & I didn't even get the 'guy' here yet!!...
Are you starting to feel any better Carol....Hope so...
Today has been a brisk, crisp windy day about
70 (but pretty...probably too cold for you
guys...but Carol, tonight could be interesting
in the Stadium if the wind continues after dusk...
Also they are unveiling a monument to Mr. Steinbrenner before the game...Don Mattingly(one of my all time favorite Yankees)
& Joe Torre are going to be there...which is
as it should be even though Torre left on less
than good terms & wrote his book which was not
received well by Yankee management & some fans (me for one)....
And by the way, I read somewhere that your
comment about Sarah Palin being at the DWTS
opener is confirmed...she will be there...
Remember Hawaii 5-0 'book em Danno murder 1'...remake begins tonight too CBS...there has been lots of publicity here about it...papers, radio & TV...will try to catch some of it...
who can resist a show set in Hawaii...just like
another oldie Magnum P.I., now who here didn't just love Magnum...& how about Zeus & Appollo...
Do you remember what Higgins said to Zeus & Appollo just about every show?!....
Nope Coreen, don't feel better and I'm afraid it will be a couple of weeks, not days, before that will happen. I went to work and was miserable but I did put that to good use, like I turned into a worst nightmare of a mother for a couple of the girls I saw today.
One was a pretty, I'm sure relatively intelligent, 24 yo with two children, started having them at 15. She's in for the third time in a relatively short period. Drugs, meth and xanax, and probation violation. She's just clueless on how to get out of her downward spiral, a bayou version of Lindsay Lohan.
She probably has a nice mom and grandma, they are taking care of her kids while she screws up her life. I had set up a appointment for her to go in for GYN appt during her last incarceration. We carried her there. She had an abnormal pap and she had an appointment to have another pap in April this year, after she got out of jail, but nooooo, she didn't follow up. She's in my office today demanding I hurry up and make another appointment now that she is unencumbered with any fun things she can do to avoid responsibility. Well, I unloaded on her. I did it for mom and grandma. I think I got her attention but doubt it did any good.
I also liked Magnum PI, watched it all the time. I remember the pups but don't remember what Higgins said to them. I also remember Hawaii 5-0. You are taxing my memory now.
I won't be lucky enough to see the Yanks again today. Yesterday was a fluke. It will be back to stickman game. But, it doesn't matter because my Saints are playing tonight anyway on ESPN. And there is the primiere of DWTS and Hawaii 5-0. I guess I will be recording the latter two on my DVR. Whew.
I had another challenge today. It seems when you would rather not have a challenge is when you get lots of them. It was this yahoo who was refusing his insulin because it is not the single dose of an insulin he was taking out of jail. His previous prescribed regimen was grossly inadequate but he liked it because it was a single injection.
I called him out to discuss it with him. It took lots of my time, that I didn't have to spare, but I won't give up without a fight. I really figured I'd be spinning my wheels. After I gave him my speach, he was totally impressed that I gave a damn and he understood what I told him. This guy didn't look like he could even understand his name. He actually realized that I had his interest in mind and was able to follow everything I told him. He thanked me over and over and shook my hand. Wow, it never hurts to try even when you think you have an impossible task.
Remote will be busy tonight...& I can check out ESPN looks like your game is on here too...
Ok...Magnum PI...Higgins used to say....
Zeus! Apollo! Patrol!...& as often as not they managed to catch Magnum...
The pre-game ceremony was very nice...there is
a huge bronze likeness of Mr. Steinbrenner in
the center of monument park with the other retired players...with a summary of what his
ownership years meant...
For me & my friends, because of him buying the team in 1973 & spending his money on producing winning teams, we have been so very fortunate to have been able to cheer for & yell/scream in joy for SEVEN!!! World Championships from the 1970s when I started being interested in baseball...
Most fans don't get even 1 championship team to
cheer for...
Sorry that you have had such a challenging day
Carol...with such a beginning, hopefully the rest of the week will get a little easier...time for you to relax & enjoy your
team...can you shut iphony off for a bit so they can't find you...
Carol, Every so often, it seems someone listens. You do make a difference.
My hummers are still in a feeding frenzy. I filled up their tanks before I went to work this morning but didn't come home for my sandwich today. When I came home this afternoon, three of the feeders were empty. I felt so quilty. There's one on the swing but no one wants that one. It's the same kind of feeder with the very same sugar water and it's full. They all want the same three of the five feeders I have hanging.
There is another feeder, that is different from the others, it seems there is only one hummer that wants to use that one. I tried to take it down but this little hummer, that used that one, just sat there waiting for me to put it back up so I did. That little hummer wouldn't go use the other feeders. They are so weird, but entertaining.
One ponder I have is....are these new hummers out there feeding each day or are some hanging around to fatten up before they head to Mexico? No way for me to tell since they all look alike.
If Tony ever drops by, I wanted him to know that I finally found that Almond milk at my Walmart. They had the regular and vanilla. I bought the regular last weekend. I use it in my coffee. I just tried it by itself and it's pretty good. Has a little of a sweet taste to it.
I'm not impressed with my Saints tonight. They should be kicking SF's ass all over that field and they aren't.
Ya know that diabetic fellow I saw today just reinforced the concept that you can't judge a book by it's cover. He looked like something the cat dragged in, ya know, the rode hard and put up wet look. He came in with the biggest chip on his shoulder. I really thought I'd be wasting my breath but under that rough looking exterior there was a pretty decent fellow inside. He did need a good shower though.
Of course, he may have thought I'd be someone who didn't give a damn. Maybe he also learned that you can't judge a book by it's cover.
Here's my early favorites on DWTS...hands down
Jennifer Gray & she's dancing with the blonde
guy Derek? Huff (won last time & his
sister used to dance-he choreographs all the
dances superbly) & Brandy is a close 2nd...
none of the guys really stand out for me early on...probably the worse for me was a comedian, Margaret Choo...
There's still a half to go...didn't they kind of slow down last week after that 1st passing
TD?...told you I like razzle dazzle passing games, not the ground & pound running games...
Yankees are ahead 8 to 4, top of the 7th....
Is the Almond milk called Silk?..I love marzipan an almond candy, but it is very sweet
can only eat a small piece....
Coreen, I've been doing critter food chores most of the evening so I haven't been able to watch much of the game. It's takes much longer to do everything now. That's hell for me since I'm usually a little hyper. Even laying in bed is a bitch.
They have been mentioning the wind stopping the passing game but I just looked and it said 13-14 mph. That's not bad.
SF just went ahead. I heard that last week they got clobbered by Seattle. The Saints better kick it into gear or they will lose.
I still have the Yanks on one of my tabs.
It's called Silk Pure Almond. I like it better than milk but I'm not a big milk fan. I'm not sure what a big milk fan would think.
I'll have to catch up with DWTS tomorrow.
Drew threw a short pass for a score & a FG so they are ahead 19 to 14 start of the 4th...
Yankees won....
I like milk, that's why I think I would not
like anything else but the real deal...
And Bill Clinton will be on Letterman in 1/2
hour if you stay up for it...
Hawaii 5-0, not bad at all...like the actors
together....liked the show...action shoot-em-up
it just may work...
I think SF is going to win this game. There deserve to. Can't believe they were clobbered by Seattle last week. It would be a miracle if the Saints could come back and win this with a little over a minute left.
It's down to a field goal........will they make it???
Now a dumb penalty, pushes back 5 yards.
We did it!!!! What a game.
That was hard on the heart.
That was a miracle!
Coreen, my subconscious musta been listening to you last night. I left Iphony in the den and it rang three times just before midnight. I didn't hear it in the bedroom with the TV on. Oh well. I was probably still awake, not sure.
The last two minutes of that game last night looked like the script was written to yield maximun excitement. Not a way to relax ya before going to sleep.
SF gave the game away with turnovers. After their score against Seattle last week, I wasn't expecting the team I saw. The wind musta been gusting at times and took away Drew's pass.
Reggie Bush was injured last night and will be out for at least 6 weeks. That's not good.
Another ponder. When the tea party first came into being, I thought they were going to be a party that would be fighting both Repubs and Dems, a people's party. The Repubs jumped in to claim them and that wasn't such a smart move. They may have started out being a good idea but ended up being the kookie party. Instead of helping the Repubs, they seem to be helping to sink them. I'll have to admit that I have enjoyed watching the drama between Karl Rove and Crazy Christine. It's a hoot.
Couldn't make the entire day today. It was get this bra off 30. Every day for the last 4 days, my rib has hurt more. I hope it will start going the other way. It's aggravated by using my right arm but it's impossible not to.
Coming home early, I got the chance to watch DWTS. It hardly seems fair to have to vote off someone after their first dance but if someone has to go.....I would vote off either the Jersey Shore guy, the Hoff, or Bolton.
I think the rest, even if they didn't do so well, do have potential for improvement, IMO. I think Cho has potential but has issues with her feminity. They did incorporate comedy into the routine which may have confused some. Her serious dancing part wasn't that bad.
The athletes were surprisingly good for their first dance especially the basketball guy. It doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes. And he has the disadvantage of all that height.
Kyle Massey impressed me the most for the guys. For a short chunky guy, he was really good.
Bristol was very self conscious. I think she has potential if she can work thru that.
Florence did amazing for 76. I'm a lot younger and I was in pain and short of breath just watching her.
Seemed that poor Michael had trouble with the walking parts of the dance. His partner was dragging him around.
Didn't care for the Jersey Shore guy at all. He was arrogant.
The Hoff looked like his clothes had way to much starch. I'm not sure he'll get more pliable. He kinda looks like I feel right now.
Yes, Jennifer Gray was good, the best, but she studied dance so she has a decided advantage.
Watched DWTS's. I completely agree with Carol's assessment. Were you reading my mind???
Coreen, did you watch 2 & 1/2 men last night - a new one. I think this show might be an imitation of Charlie Sheen's life.
Any friendly bets (no $$) on who gets kicked off DWTS tonight. I bet will be Jersey Shore guy. Is his name "the Situation"
I was reading your mind Jan.
And Jan, I'll go with you on the Jersey Shore guy getting the boot. Maybe Bolton and Hoff get a pass due to their celebrity.
Here we go again...Carol you think Jennifer Gray has an advantage to start...maybe so, but
she is still the best in the early going...& likely throughout she will be in the top groups...
Other than her, just about any of them could be
a goner...but I still disliked the comedian
the most...Margaret Choo...her so called 'humor' if it was really meant to be
so, rather than just poor execution of the routine...was awful, she's awful, but I don't like her to begin with, so I guess I'm biased...
If Jersey Shore is as popular as claimed...I do
know some 25-35 year old women who just love those 'characters'...would not be surprised if their votes would keep him in...his arrogance was typical of a 'guido' type guy which I'm pretty sure is how he is on the show...grew up
with a lot of those kind of guys...think mini
tony sopranos
Jan, I did switch on/off to 2-1/2 men but honestly don't recall much about it, was there anything funny?...alan with Jake's friend's mother,(who apparently may have been a porn star) charlie not drinking, yet..Jake is so not
funny & absolutely not 'cute'...
I did like 5-0 though...
And Carol, don't like hearing that you are getting worse not better...would it be time for you to have a dr. check you out yet?...
Just a fact counselor. "She is an alumna of the Dalton School, a private school in Manhattan, and studied both dance and acting."
She is the best now and probably will continue to be.
The Jersey Shore guy's fate may depend on the demographics of the viewers of DWTS. We might see tonight or later. I don't think the judges cared for him either. They were tough on the other two I mentioned also.
And counselor, were you watching carefully or were you popping in and out from your Yank's game? Did you tape it?
It's not unusual for a broken rib to hurt more after a short while. It does usually get worse before it gets better. No need to expose myself to radiation when I can feel it snap, crackle and pop with most of the moves I make. Nothing you can do about it either but be patient and wait. Neither am I good at.
Newt Gingrich calls for federal law banning Shariah law in the US. Give me a break. And this man is not in an institution somewhere. Oh, yeah, they don't have those anymore. Do you think anyone takes this guy seriously?
Coreen, please explain this. Can a judge order the burying and stoning of someone for adultry here?
Just think if the show had only clumsy, two-left foot dancers, it would not last a season...they have to have some that are really able to dance, don't you think...& the celebrity status is a must as well...though
not familiar with many of the celebs...but what do I know....
I don't tape any shows...I did see all the dancers, my remote was busy, why do you think I missed some really good dance steps?...
& the Yankee game is always on my radio as well as TV...my radio station actually is a fraction of a second ahead of what is on the TV channel (when the game is on YES, so I don't miss any of the plays)...
I was watching my Saints last night but today I watched the DVR recording of DWTS.
And Coreen, on DWTS, I'm partial to watching the ugly duckling turning onto a swan. The "My Fair Lady" appeal...."I think she's got it".
that's suppose to be into a swan, not onto a swan.
Not anywhere that I know of Carol...why is there some idea that a judge in the USA could &/or would order such punishment?...considering that I don't think adultery is a criminal offense in any state at this time, not likely that could ever happen...
& even in civil cases, that is, divorce, most
states have done away with adultery as a reason for seeking a divorce...most are 'no fault' divorce states, where no reason has to
be stated other than the marriage has broken
down...where adultery may be considered in the
divorce action, in some states, is in the property distribution, but not in CT....
What I think the conservatives are referring to
is there were a couple of court cases involving
muslim men & the way they treated their wives,
in one case a beheading I think in upstate NY,
with some sort of claim that his religious beliefs, i.e. sharia law, would somehow
allow his killing the wife, but don't think
that helped his case...& another where a muslim
sexaually assaulted his wife & the trial judge
in his findings alluded to the guy not having the intent to commit the criminal acts because of 'religious beliefs', again sharia law...& I think in the end an appeals court overturned
the trial court's findings...quickly & forcefully....would have to go look it up for the particulars though...
Which to conservatives (& many other Americans
would seem political correctness run a muck)
I know you like the ugly duckling/my fair lady
fantasy...but America wants what it wants...
instant gratification...the prettiest, most
handsome, sexiest...on & on... Remember its
all about ratings....the public isn't going
to watch fumbling, chubbettes...they want
the fantasy of the glamorous beautiful people...just the way it is...
but if you stopped dreaming of how it should
be, I would be disappointed...you must be true
to yourself....I would not want it any other way...
I bet there are a lot of us swan wanna bes out here.
Whew, it's warm in here. Just saw the tall handsome basketball guy dance again. Who does he play for?
Coreen, did you catch Cho's dancing before she started adding the comedy? She was doing well.
Just got the answer to BB guy question. I can't go to the DWTS site to find out because it locked up my computer twice today. Tomato woman, my sport's reference, told me he's been retired for years.
Didn't the most experienced dancer, winner, last time get Derek as a partner?
I think they made the right choice.
i too think it was the right choice - on DWTS. However it is always the older guys and gals who get kicked off early. I want to see Cho try again. I actually would like to see Bristol Palin stay on for several shows. I think it would be good for her to spend some time on the show. She is so overshadowed by her mom and ex. I want to see her try out another identity not controlled by them.
"& the celebrity status is a must as well...though
not familiar with many of the celebs."
Coreen, Bill Mahar said that if you are a " star, you are not dancing on DWTS's." I guess most are celebrities however.
Coreen, I don't hear much about Jersey Shore around these parts. You are probably on target though if it has a following in your part of the country. I was surprised to see the young A-A guy in the bottom 2. I thought he was good and very entertaining.
I too did not care much for 2.5 men last night. I hope it improves this season. I fear Jake growing up has changed the show. Charlie is becoming pathetic.
I agree with what you said Jan. I thought that Kyle danced very well but he doesn't have that sleek dancer's body. If he stays on for a while, he will lose some of that fat, they all will lose weight because they are getting a significant work out.
On local radio this a.m. they said Hasselhof
was the first to go on DWTS, not a surprise choice...& they also said Jennifer Gray is the
favorite...& yes, last year's winner was paired
with Derek (though I do not even remember her name...wasn't she part of some group pussycat
dolls?)...don't think celeb status means
you are a 'star' whatever Maher meant by that, not sure, other than top tier personalities
don't go on the show?...but they should be recognizable to the audience (not necessarily
our demographic group obviously)....& also
heard that the show racked up 21 million viewers...still a winner for ABC....
As for 2-1/2 men, show may have exhausted its
cleverness, wittiness...jumped the shark....will give it a little more time but since last season continues to go downhill...
I think the voters did Hoff a favor by voting him off. I may not be a good dance critic but I am pretty good at sizing up someone's physical conditioning and from watching the Hoff move out there, it looked like he'd been rode hard and put up wet a few too many times. I bet he had some degenerative joint disease and he may not have been able to hold up to the crueling work needed for this dance contest.
People who are older, unless in top physical conditioning, and even some of the younger ones, really need to start preparing for DWTS months ahead of time.
If it was Derek who worked with the winner last year, he has had an unfair advantage. I'm sure it's easier to work with someone with dance experience than to work with some of those who have had none. I used to think he was the best of the pros but maybe not since he doesn't get the more challenging assignments. Or maybe they give him the people who are more likely to be there longer because he has a bigger contract with the show. I wonder what happens to the pros when their partners get voted off, do they have to look for a new job?
Jan, I don't think the fact that Kyle wasn't saved until the end of the show meant that he didn't get many votes to stay. They saved Cho early and I'm sure she didn't fare that well in the voting. We were kinda all in agreement and in line with what the judges thought and we all thought that Kyle did well. I'm sure the rest of the voters did also.
Jan, tonight is the second season primiere for Modern Family. Don't forget to watch or tape it.
Also for your viewing pleasure:
"The equinox officially arrives tonight at 11:09, marking the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. The full moon will also peak Wednesday night-Thursday morning, making for an extremely bright "super harvest moon."
And as an added bonus, Jupiter will appear right next to the moon.
For the first time in almost two decades, the Northern Hemisphere's autumn is beginning on the night of a full Moon. As the sun sets (7:17 p.m.), bringing summer to a close, the full Moon will rise (6:43 p.m.), heralding the start of fall. The two sources of light will mix together and should create a kind of 360-degree, summer-autumn twilight glow that is only seen on rare occasions

Say goodbye, farewell to summer. Whoopee!
I can sit on my couch and watch that baby rise and sparkle in my river. I may have to record everything else and just watch that moon tonight. Maybe even howl a couple of times.
Hello Arcadia, Louisiana
This year I've had a tremendous increase in the number of hummers that have stopped by. I did find an answer to my question of whether they are just dropping in for a fillup or if they are staying awhile. I can't tell because they all look alike. I read that during their migration they drop in for anywhere from 1-14 days to fillup/fatten up. Not sure why there are so many more this year since hummers also usually follow the same migration path. Maybe I'm the only station around.
I'm having to fill my feeders now three times a day and again I ran thru my 5 pounds of sugar in less that a week so tonight I had to use my organic pure cane sugar. It's brown so I hope they aren't alarmed tomorrow when their water looks different. Should I put up a sign that says it's actually healthier?
They spend a lot of time fighting each other during the day but just before they call it a quits for the evening, which is a little after 7pm, they call a truce and all sit at the table peacefully together. It seems that every little hole on the 5 feeders is filled with a hummer with some circling and waiting. Pretty cool to watch. My trees out here are buzzing with activity. I wonder how long this frenzy will last. It's a job keeping those feeders full.
Bob Woodward has a new book out. That will give the media/pundits/blowhards something new to talk about for a while. I've heard bits and pieces. Some of the things the Repubs are trying to spin negatively actually makes me like Obama more. Those Repubs can take chocolate ice cream and try to make you think it's dog shit, but later you realize it was actually ice cream and the stench you were smelling was just their breath. Of course, some people never catch on because they are partial to the stench.
The Repubs made a mess of our world, I think they worked hard to lose the presidential election because they knew they had made an impossible mess and couldn't fix it, then when the Dems won, they put their fat feet in the way to trip up anyone trying to fix their mess, and now are trying to blame the Dems for their mess. And some naive people are falling for this. And there are a lot of naive people out there.
And when they criticize that Obama didn't talk about how to win the war in Afghanistan....are there really delusional people out there that think the war in Afghanistan can ever really be won??? I do know the answer to that question. We could never really win a war against people with the philosophy those people have without sending them all to join those virgins they are lusting for. And if you knock them out, more will come. It's a bottomless pit or an endless war.
Am behind in comments. Been working overtime - will bank these extra hours and take a couple of weeks off later when we get a permanent nurse in head start program. I am pretty exhausted, so will just check in and say hi. Not ignoring you.
Carol, I love hearing about your hummers. You are a good hummer "mother" to keep their feeders filled so many times a day. I love hearing about their activities - their aggressiveness and their sitting on the feeders together. You are teaching us about their behaviors. Keep it coming.
We watched a news program early this morning. Bill Clinton was being interviewed about his "Global Initiative"on Morning Joe. He had some very interesting comments on the economy and jobs. I wish we could elect him again for President. That was actually brought up in the interview and he laughed. I don't watch much news on politics b/c I think 99% of it is Bulls...t but he makes so much sense.
I would like to read Bob Woodward's book.
Jan, those little hummers are always moments away from starvation and with the drought we've had around here I don't think there would be enough flower to support their journey south.
With all the feeder filling, I have a trail of sticky floor in and out of here. I try to keep it clean but having some trouble with the limited use of my right arm. If I don't show up with a comment for a while, you will know I'm stuck to the floor and send help.
Jan, did you see our Ms Warren on Morning Joe? Every time I hear her talk, I love her more.
Carol, sorry I missed Ms. Warren.
Did anyone check out the moon last night? Actually it wasn't quite full last night. I noticed that it seemed to have a little bit missing so I came in and checked the calendar and found that today is the full moon. It's better tonight. It still has that special glow around it. Check it out.
I just finished watching Clinton on Morning Joe. I didn't get to see him this morning so recorded the rest of the program. I like him but I was more impressed with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is someone who I totally trust to help us. She is so down to earth, easy to understand. Not a pretentious bone in her body.
Coreen, what's going on at that ballpark tonight? Are the Yanks feeling generous tonight?
Not a good night Carol, but today there is another game...9 to go...in the end, it all works out...the local sports talkers were more
hostile about the loss....
Ut oh, it looks like for Lilo is was do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars...about time. I think she was testing that judge.
Yanks play Boston tonight at home? Isn't Renee a Boston fan? Seems I remember she is a BB fan.
Anyone see the video of Colbert testifying in front of Congress, in character. If not then you need to check it out. It's got mixed reviews.
I liked it. Colbert is brilliant. He reinforced that the behavior of those in Congress is a joke but not very funny like Colbert is. I hope he got their attention. Unfortunately the one who really need to get it, won't.
Saw it Carol...thought Colbert's silly shtick
was a useless piece of political theatre that
only made the committee chairwoman
look like an idiot for inviting him to 'testify'...about what!!...his vast expertise with regard to farm labor...give me
a break...& they wonder why a growing majority of Americans are fed up with the DC denizens...
Sitting next to the head of the United Farm
Workers who may have testified to real issues
with regard to the topic...but the publicity
is about a comedian, in my opinion a baffoon, rather than the substance of the hearing...so typically Washingtonian...but then again I have never liked Colbert's shtick...& did you
catch his 'humor' directed at Iowans...or more
particularly 'gay Iowans'...really clever & funny...I'm rolling on the floor....ha,ha,ha!
Sarcastically....
Yes, she is a Boston sports teams fan...& a
Yankee hater as well...along with a few more at
TM...
I love Colbert but I then I like satire.
His testimony evoked emotion, both positive and negative. It got more attention than someone providing the same material in a serious manner.
Some in the news media didn't care for it. I like that also.
He did spend a day as a immigrant farm worker, picking veggies. He showed that on his show last night. I record both he and Stewart every night.
And Colbert wasn't really funny in a ha ha sort of way, as often is the case with his humor. It was actually a sad sort of way. He points out just how ridiculous some things are. Much of our laughter is probably more nervous laughter, embarrassed laughter.
I'm getting a strange feeling that Renee is really ecstatic right now.
Have not seen Colbert's show you are talking about. I do enjoy his show. Sometimes I think it can be silly. John loves his show. I prefer Jon Stewart. But I tape and watch both too.
Carol, I love your pictures. The hummers are amazing. I died laughing when I saw the squirrel. The squirrel looks like I have felt this week. You take some great pictures. I have not taken any pics of quilt as yet. The job is taking lots more time than I want. That will change. I will just bank these hours for a couple of weeks off later on.
I went to an all day state breast feeding task force meeting today. Sitting in a meeting all day is more tiring than anything else. It was a good meeting though. The other women (no guys) were from all over NM and worked in WIC and hospitals in state. I enjoyed it very much. We did a potluck.
Carol, do you remember the breast feeding woman I worked with close to where your mom and SF lived. I will never forget that family. I think it was your mom or stepdad who put me in touch with them. I will not forget when I would counsel her that her father in law would sit in on the discussions. He was most respectful and related what I was telling her to his cows. I have laughed about that so many times.
Jan, I don't have a clue who you are talking about. Can you give me more hints?
Jeremy, wife and baby are in town visiting. I took the day off to meet them for lunch. Baby slept thru the entire lunch. I hope to catch her awake tomorrow. I would have taken pics but didn't want to scare her awake.
They spent time with SF and thought he was much better than the last time they saw him. This is the first time they have been back since the hospital abduction and our having gotten SF set up with all his help.
