Gulf Wildlife 'Dead Zone' Keeps Growing

Memorial crosses symbolizing what is lost due to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion and oil spill stand in the front yard of a house in Grand Isle, La., Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

-- Experts who assessed the Exxon Valdez disaster describe how the Gulf oil spill could affect birds, reptiles, shrimp, fish and other wildlife.

"An over 7,000-square-mile wildlife "dead zone" located in the center of the Gulf of Mexico has grown from being a curiosity to a colossus over the past two decades, according to the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), and scientists are now concerned the recent oil spill and other emerging chemical threats could widen the zone even further.

The NWF describes the dead zone as being "the largest on record in the hemisphere in coastal waters and one of the biggest in the world."

During the summer months, it is nearly devoid of wildlife, save for the dead bodies of crabs, shrimp and other marine species that succumb to oxygen depletion in the polluted water.

Animal toxicology experts believe the Gulf dead zone is a man-made monstrosity.

"Outside of widespread impacts from oil release, the drainage of the Mississippi River into the Central Gulf has deposited massive amounts of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers from agricultural activities in the Central United States," Ron Kendall, director of The Institute of Environmental and Human Health, told Discovery News.

"Basically, this has created the large dead zone in the Central Gulf," added Kendall, who is chairman of Texas Tech's Department of Environmental Toxicology and was part of the assessment team for the Exxon Valdez." http://news.discovery.com/animals/gulf-dead-zone-oil-spill.html

... I'm convinced this spill knows no limits. I had faith that it would be contained by now, but instead, it's looking worse than ever.

So much for trusting the 'so called' experts.

I definitely need to get off this subject.....

Effort to contain Gulf oil stalls with stuck saw
"Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen says crews are shooting chemical dispersants at oil that began leaking when a saw became stuck in the latest attempt to contain the Gulf oil gusher.

The saw snagged as it was cutting through a pipe on a busted well. Allen said Wednesday the goal is to free the saw and finish the cut later in the day." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100602/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gulf_oil_spill

Chloe,

Re: Obama threatening Bp. Haliburton etal will only be believed by me: When I see a court ordered motion against them.!

He also likes play basketball, and in basketball, there are a lot of head fakes. He has made quite a few of them, where also in basketball, if done to often they are not to be believed.....

I did play basketball with the teenagers over the weekend, just before it rained...we played half of a second one in the rain, then it rained to hard...that turned out good for me...I was pooped. I can still move ok with them cos I anticipate the plays as well as I used to when I played (was my fav sport) a long, long time ago...so I just set up a lot of plays and teach them some plays that are a team effort...they seem to like this cos I have a standing invite.....

Coreen,

I did give into Craig about sending a pic....I did send one before last year, or was it the year before?, yes it was the year before...been around too long....

I waned to send one that showed the Building, a roof top restaurant at cubs park, that is on Sheffield ave, is by the right field side.....or a pic of me with and some of my const. equipment......but I could not, and chose one that showed my best construction project to date....with my son Tom......

Don't know if Craig was trying to be funny, but he asked me if I was the one with the cap on....my son looks a lot younger than I do......I look (as always) a bit serious, but am always read for a little hahahaa-ing....

It is increasingly clear that those that should
have known failed to believe/prepare for the
worst case scenario...like a sci-fi doomsday
movie...

Every attempt so far appears as if they are
making it up as they go along....& failing....

Let's hope the historical method to stop a leak
the drilling of relief wells works at some
time in the not to distant future....

Even if/when it does stop the leak, the question still remains...is the damage irreparable...

Not him personally, but for all of them in office.!!!

That has been my point of only having two parties...they can just point an investigation panel and come up with the same ole thing....they scold the corps, then they go and have some cocktails a little later on....bet they play the game like we used to with the sleep #'s ...they just take turns is all......sometime they forget whose turn it is....all the same.!

This time around tho, it has been more and more obvious, thats why this tea party thing needs to be watched....too bad that someone like Bleumenthal, or some other person of influence, and $ does not take over.....still hoping......

I am going to get someone to scan in some pics tho, I remember that u wanted to see the one of that roof top rest. over looking Cubs park...

I have been to a cpl that Nalco Chemicals invited me......lots of heavy hitters were in that line up....people from all over the world were watching the cubs play in between all of the business talks.....I was invited cos I worked there on a concrete project in one of their plants...and a big shot turned out to be a buddy from high school......

I knew whom the real big shots were when they took off their suit coats.....they had no pockets on their shirts........

these pics (some) are kinda old...when I was an active Marine, and some others, that brought back some cool memory s

Anonymous said...

Solar, You have to scan them on a printer that also has a scan mode. Once you've got the printer connected to the computer you're scanning them onto, you go to your start menu and click on 'devices and printers' (if you don't see it there, then it will be in your control panel, or you can type it in your search bar and find it there). The printer may just pop up on your computer by itself though.

Then, you should just have to hit scan (it should ask you what you want to do) - then name it and save it (and put a copy shortcut of the finished scan on your desktop, so it's easy to find). Printers do vary somewhat, but it should instruct you. He can email it to you once he's got it scanned.

Solar said...

Chloe,

We tried all of that, and have done it before. That is how I posted those pic at tm......they could not be scanned.....

Anonymous said...

Solar - it doesn't matter how old the pics are, you can scan anything: picture or document.

I think Coreen got a special scanner for just that purpose. I'm not sure, but I know she was able to scan a bunch of her pics.

Most printers will scan, but they should have a scan button right on them. When you buy one, it's always good to get one that will do everything. I like the Canon printers best, and got one for about 45 bucks at Walmart not long ago. They're the easiest to operate.

Anonymous said...

If he did one before Solar, this time it should work just the same. Maybe he needs to start again, and see which step is messing up. The scanner doesn't differentiate between pictures.

I did look at the video. Who is the little girl you guys were talking to? (is that the right pic?)

... she looked a little like Emma.

Mary said...

Solar and Chloe,
They sell a gadget on QVC that you scan pictures onto a SD card or directly onto the computer. I bought one for Carol for Christmas. That's the one Coreen has. Actually the one Carol and Coreen have you can scan pictures or negatives.

I think Coreen requested a picture of Solar and me when I go to Chicago so I'm hoping I can get someone to take a picture of us if I get to meet up with him.

Coreen said...

"I did look at the video. Who is the little girl you guys were talking to? (is that the right pic?)"

Chloe, not sure about the pics with the little
girls...I think one of them may be Patsi with
her little granddaughter Maria? maybe...Solar
may remember...Patsi puts some pics on her facebook pages & I think the TM video may have
one...not sure...like I said it went so fast
I could not be sure....there was a couple of
other toddlers in the vid, but no idea who
they were are related to from TM....

As far as scanning old photos...I do have a couple of scanners that I got from QVC (about $100) they work great for pics & really fast
just slide them through & they are stored on a
sd card &/or into the computer.

I also use a HP flat-bed scanner for documents I need to scan & send to court...but the flat bed is really slow compared to the little photo
scanner...and yes you can also scan real photos on it, but it would take forever to scan
lots, whereas the qvc gadget is instant, you can scan many pics fast....

Solar the only way I could help with old pics would be for you to actually mail the old pics
to me, then I could scan them into the computer & then back to you..& I would certainly do that for you...anytime, just let me know, I will give you my address by email...

Coreen said...

Hey Mar, good to see you....wasn't sure if you bought Carol one at Christmas or not...

I would love to have you & Solar take a pic
together when you get to Chicago...the same with your son & family, if you want....and if your son or you has a digital camera...Carol could get it on the computer & to all of us....& if you only get real photos, again Carol could scan with the 'gadget' & get it here too...

Solar said...

Thanks Coreen, I will see what my son has for scanning..maybe he didn't do it right.....

Those pictures of that little girl was "Little Maria" Patsy's granddaughter...she is another of my internet nieces...and it looks like they will be growing in #'s.....

Chloe,

It is getting harder and harder picking a little spat with U. U are right were u belong...tm is more for people like me....love to argue .....it is therapeutic for me....I think?

U see most....no all of my life has been one long huge fight...and im very glad that it is not now ( for the last 15-20 years)...im mostly very calm about everything....building projects like homes, and such will only come out right, if I take things on one at a time, and don't worry about the the whole project...doing the small everyday steps will take care of that.!

At tm, it is different....I like arguing the large picture....specially when Craig said that there were over 20k lurkers around.....

I lurked for over a year before posting, and learned quite a lot from the arguments that went on. I do think that I surprised some cos they thought that I wasn't up to their level....im probably not.....like I said I mostly get ignored....but I have noticed that they take most of my thoughts and re-arange them in future threads...not Craig, but I have noticed that most of what i have said in the past....some of them, say the same things, but in their own way( and better).....thats cool....they like to talk about the box scores....I like to look out side of the box......

Speaking about arguments...its getting harder to start one with U.......going to find a way...not argue, but ...U know what I mean dang it....so stop all of this goody, goody thing with me.........

Solar said...

oooops I didn't meant to repeat my self like that....but it looks like I said the same thing twice, maybe that second time was just a little different, but the same..just like repeating this dumb post is the same...it never changes....it sounds the same over, and over...will it ever end?.............

no it won't it will go on for another long boring.......but like I said before.....slap.......ok im outta hear...or here cos I can't hear....just slapped my self....is this repeating things again....first I slapped me upsides the cabeza, and now im telling u that i did it again.....nothing to ponder here...just dumb repetitions of the same things over and over......ok thats all...it's all over....over and out.....ps i think that I lost all sense of embarrassment around here...thats embarrassing no?

I have not had time to get used to retirement yet. We are making another trip to OK and ARK so no rest yet. It is nice though not to think about needing to go to work. It feels like a really long weekend right now.

I have been avoiding talking about BP and the consequences of the oil spill Coreen, like U Chloe, and all the others..Im broken hearted also. I hate to think how it is going to alter the ocean lives.....we have been destroying North America for some time now....it's just that in we have only recently have been here....now with over population, we are starting to have an effect. Many species of plants, animals that are no longer with us.... are due directly to over population....there is only so (mathematically) much ground per person that the earth can withstand......if we eliminate just one species.....there is an effect on others that prey, need them in order to sustain their #'s.....so imagine how many will die due to these greedy corps....

They will continue to die and so will the lifestyles of many of our residents.

I'm tired of seeing people in jail for so much lessor offenses while these people go about life as usual.

Tony, Maggies asleep on the couch also but she just waits for my ritual of turning off the TV and picking up my laptop. She loves bedtime. It's her favorite time. When she sees the signs, she looks around, grabs a toy and scurrys to bed. She jumps up on my side of the bed until I get in and she has to move over. Then uses her paw to rub her own head until I take the hint that I'm suppose to do that.

My grampy had a place we all called the little farm. It was 11 acres on a hill overlooking a bayou. The family also had the big farm. It was 1100 acres. Before he built a house out at the little farm, all he had was this huge brick, screened in room. The family spent a lot of time out there in the summer.

My grampy had lots of beautiful scrubs on the property. Many were camellias, some were originals that he grafted himself. One night when we were out there I remember my daddy saying he was going out after an armadillo. He picked up this large log and took out the door in a rush. I was young and didn't know what an armadillo was but with a name like and the log he was weilding, I knew it had to be a horrible monster and I was hoping my daddy would come back alive.

We passed through some small towns here in central Alabama on our way to the Cahaba River NWR. It was the holiday and folks were seen settin' and rockin' on their front porches. It gave me a good old time feeling, like going to my grandmother's house.

I always laugh at the Sears optical commercial with the lady whose glasses need adjusting who mistakes a raccoon for her kitty cat coming in the house. My mom can never hear what the lady says to the 'coon...I tried to translate for her...I think she's saying, "Kiss, come snuggles with Mama." Anybody else see or hear it differently? Pretty crazy, huh? I'd be embarrassed to post this kind of drivel on TM...thank God for the Swamp where we can wallow in anything...lol

Thanks Tony for the wonderful things you said. I feel undeserving, but am so appreciative of how kind your are - and extremely glad to see you here at the Swamp. You're always telling people what a joy they are Tony, and I agree - but you, my friend, are the biggest joy of all.

I am so grateful for everyone here, and feel honored to know you all, and to be a part of this.

Ivy, your last comment about the raccoon was priceless. It is so funny to think of 'your raccoon' out there, pacing, looking for his missing food - and hubs keeping you posted.

... I'm glad you mentioned that commercial (I hadn't seen it). I looked it up, and it is soooo funny! Come snuggles with mama

Anonymous said...

... Carol, I also enjoyed sharing that memory with you of being on your grampy's screened in porch on those warm summer nights. Louisiana is such a wonderful place to have grown up in.

Carol said...

Ivy, as far as those pesky raccoons go, I had the same problem one year until I saw it dead in the middle of the road. I'm not sure how you would encourage your raccoon to step out into busy traffic without looking both ways but sooner or later, they usually do. Or you can leave your garbage can lid up and they will get into that and make a mess all over your yard. It will save your bird feeder. If your really lucky, the lid will fall down and you've caught yourself a raccoon. Problem solved.

Was that any help?

Carol said...

I love that here kitty, kitty, kitty commercial also. I couldn't have even told you what they were advertising until you mentioned it was Sears optical. Sometimes when the commercial is really good, I don't even notice what they are selling. I did ponder what it might be like to have a raccoon in the bed with me.

Coreen, did you see where that ump screwed up and called that guy safe who was really out and he screwed up that pitcher's perfect game? (Detroit/Cleveland game) I don't understand why they couldn't have reversed that call right away instead of making it stand. They do it in football all the time.

Ivy Green said...

Y'all were up pretty early this am. This is early for me. Must have something to do with the approaching solstice and the days getting longer. With our weird time zone location, that means the days START earlier.

Chloe, thanks for the link to the kitty-coon commercial...I will e-mail that to my Mom so she can replay it with her hearing ad on. Laughter is good medicine for her. The other hilarious Sears ad, "Missing Something?", is the guy who fires up a pile of dog food on his charcoal grill and then sniffs something "funny." lol

Ivy Green said...

Hubs has been "sleep walking" in the middle of the night. He reported he saw the raccoon again last night pacing the deck. A long time ago, I used to feed the dogs on the screened side and there would be leftover food sometimes. A raccoon caught on to that, and made himself a secret door by slashing a the screen in an inconspicuous spot. He came and went at will for who-knows-how-long until we busted him. Once we took the food away, he went away. Unlike armadillos, these critters are smart, and I wonder how long I will have to keep bringing the bird feeder inside before he figures out he better go looking elsewhere? I'm already wondering if I will need to get a trap and move him somewhere...like Montgomery?

Coreen said...

Ivy,

Pretty sure is you remove the feeding source,
your 'free loader' will go elsewhere...out in the yard, I see raccoons, skunk, woodchucks & in the winter, even deer, eating the bird seed,
though not sure if that's what they would usually eat....

Coreen said...

Carol,

The blown call by the umpire in the Detroit/Cleveland game was the talk of the night during the NYY game & after on sports talk radio....

No question he blew it, & he admitted it after
watching the replay & while you would think that the right way to correct the error would to be reverse his call, pretty sure replays don't apply to any calls other than home run disputes, so baseball would not change the outcome.

As far as your question about which Gore might
have a companion....the obvious choice would
be Al..since he has the power, glory...yada, yada, yada...that often attracts attention(& the cynic tells me not many guys given the opportunity resists the temptation)...and since I know very little about Tipper, or her character/personality...just not sure....I would have to say it would be Al....but not a lock....

Anonymous said...

Yes Coreen, and Al travels all the time. I was reading something yesterday, where the person was saying that this has been building up for a while, in his opinion. He said he noticed a chill between them about 10 years ago, and he thinks it festered slowly over the years, until this happened.

A breakup would make no sense unless it was something major. They've been married 40 years, are in their 60s now, and it makes no sense that they wouldn't just go on like they've been going, separate lives or not. There was no need to make the divorce formal, unless there were some very bad feelings on one side or the other.

I'm with you - I think it's Al that is the bad guy.

Carol said...

Coreen, baseball is a game where records are important. It screwed up lots of those peep's records and with all the screwing, it's ashamed nobody got to enjoy it.

Carol said...

And since we are on the subject of screwing....I think it is more likely that the man having all the glory and doing the traveling would be the guilty dog but not always. I just hope that if that is the case, there's something good in it for Tipper.

Carol said...

And I think that maybe the traditional marriage contract should be changed. That, until death do us part, statement may be a little unrealistic and may need a little revision. I think some couples have changed it to make it more realistic.

Coreen said...

Looks like Selig will not reverse the perfect game miss, but maybe there is still a chance...
in any event the pitcher, team & the umpire
have all acted over & above in a most difficult
situation for everyone....

Here's Selig's statement which most are suggesting means he will not reverse the call...

Selig's statement about the 'perfect game'

Coreen said...

Carol, here's a mix of opinions about whether
the perfect game call should be reversed...including from Keith Olberman (who
I used to watch regularly, but not since he
turned on Hillary...even though he is a big
NYY fan).....

No consensus.....

Room For debate-reverse the call or not

Carol said...

My vote is still to reverse the call and give the boy his due! It's history and we have enough bad history in the making these days.

Carol said...

What's your vote Coreen?

Carol said...

And we are living with the effects of so many mistakes that really can't be undone.

Coreen said...

As far as everyone thinks (me included)... is there anyone who follows baseball that doesn't think so?...Galaraga in fact pitched a perfect game, so Selig should make an exception & reverse it...

jan said...

Hi folks, just checking in. I lurked a little last night in the midst of packing. We are taking a little road trip to OK and ARK to visit family. I had a routine med appt and got a clean bill of health. Bp was great. Chol is a little higher than usual - 190 - I need to eat some chol lowering foods and lose some wt. -so what else is new?

It is lovely to be able to keep up with you all while on the road. I love the new computer. I feel like I have finally joined the computer age.

We are in Amarillo TX tonight. There are 2 buses of folks staying in the hotel tonight. John said to me while waiting on the elevator "I feel young." The hotel has a happy hour with free food and they are all waiting on that. I think we will go out and not wait.

Ivy, I was thinking of the folks in Alabama. The guy Van Der Sloot that was believed to have killed the young girl traveler from Ala 5 yrs ago has been accused of killing a young woman in Chile. This guy is probably a serial killer.

Carol said...

Oil industry's donation to Republicans over Dems now is 13 to 1. Hmmmmm. No wonder Jindal and Vitter are pleading BP's case for them. Money talks and I hope the votes are listening cuz they'll be paying for it.

jan said...

Ivy, we had raccoons getting into an attic in ARK many years ago. We had just bought and moved into the house and it sounded like someone was bowling in the attic. I feared that someone was living up there. We called a "special pest" control agency and they brought traps and caught the raccoons.

Carol said...

Yes Ivy, you can go get a trap from Animal Control and catch and release them somewhere else.

Carol said...

That Van Der Sloot getting away with one murder probably makes him feel bullet proof. How many women will have to die before he goes down?

Solar said...

About that perfect game:

There is no leadership anywhere.! Not in politics, nor in sports......that ump should be called on the carpet, and made to apologize...anyone can make a mistake...but not correcting it is about baseball politics imo......

Carol said...

Solar, the Ump did apologize. He feels terrible. He was almost crying.

Carol said...

I don't blame the Ump. It was a close call and the Ump's perspective wasn't good to see that it was an out.

Carol said...

Like I know what I'm talking about....I'll be the first to tell you I don't.

Carol said...

But that doesn't stop me from giving my opinion..

Solar said...

Cnn, had some retired Ump named Garcia that said that this is what makes baseball so great, the good calls, and the bad calls....well not like this terrible call....this kid might not ever get another chance to get a perfect game......

I checked to see if he was in my family, so that I could go and slap him around a little (nope), but one never knows....we are part of the population problem...lots of us around, two here, three there they all add up. My Pa had 14 farm hands...and no tv...HA.!

Anonymous said...

Just peeking in before I give Emma her bath and get her ready to settle down for the night. So glad to see that you checked in Jan, and that you're well on your way. (I do feel sorry for you being in Amarillo though :)

That is so cute that John said that he feel's young - it put such a smile on my face. What a great guy he is Jan - like I've said before, you two are so lucky to have each other. I'm so glad you'll be keeping in touch with us. You're now a globe trotter with lap top in hand.

I followed that Van Der Sloot story way back when, and it is such a shame he had to kill again before he was caught.

Suspect in Peru woman's slaying arrested in Chile, police say

"Van der Sloot is the main suspect in this week's slaying of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez, who was found Wednesday in a Lima, Peru, hotel room registered to the Dutch man. Chilean police told CNN that paperwork showed that van der Sloot entered Chile on Wednesday.

Peruvian Interior Minister Octavio Salazar Miranda said Thursday that Peru has made arrangements with Interpol to extradite van der Sloot.

Van der Sloot also faces an arrest warrant on charges of extortion and wire fraud in Alabama, U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance said Thursday. The charges are unrelated to the killing of a Peruvian woman. " http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/03/peru.murder.case/index.html?eref=rss_crime

... I check back in a while.

Solar said...

Yeah i was wrong about him apologizing...but he should get a little slap on the head tho...he gets paid for calling them close, not for blowing them by a mile...if it was a prize fight, i would say that it was fixed....now don't start anything..he did not...just saying is all....

Unknown said...

Tony,
You'll have to help me figure out a way to thwart a pesky raccoon that's bothering my bird feeder.

Hi All.Ivy,
I would recommend as others did to trap your pesky friend for re-release..Yep,armadillo's love me,ha and my yard!

Chloe,
Thanks,i learned a long time ago while working at GM,words cost nothing!I say what I feel to someone, well if its good!

Carol said...

Evening Tony. Are you always nice Tony?

Are we going to get to hear the Blagojevich trial? I hope so. That will be some good drama. I'd record it and make popcorn.

Carol said...

Who here wants to be the jury foreman? Any volunteers?

Unknown said...

"Evening Tony. Are you always nice Tony?"

Hi Carol and good evening!
Nope, not always nice, but most of the time!If I'm crossed,no way..I'm not always right though, so apologies are always available to me!I work with Grace daily(a card caring Republican tea party person)and its not always easy!I learned to be tougher though because working at GM in a Plant with 8000 people, well you aren't able to be nice all the time..

Carol said...

Ole motor mouth Chris Matthews has a segment at the end of his program called "Let Me Finish". That's really a hoot considering he never lets anyone else finish anything they are trying to say. I know he has diabetes but I wonder if anyone has ever checked his thyroid. It he's not hyperthyroid, he missed a good chance to have it. At least he'd have a good excuse.

Now see Tony, that wasn't very nice of me.

Unknown said...

Carol,it sure was nice! Tweety deserves much worse,so yes in my book you were being very kind!

Carol said...

Chris has all kinds of advice for the man who made his leg tingle. I'm afraid it may have just been a varicose vein popping out and he misread it.

Carol said...

I had such a bad day at work today that I'm actually watching the news tonight. It's giving me a good place to displace my anger.

Carol said...

And I think I'll dig out that Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Unknown said...

Damn,Carol,i hear you! It was a good day for me just hot and steamy as hell,oh and those windows! Tweety is a trip, the guy gushes at Obama one minute and rips him the next.Me thinks he has a split personality disorder, just kidding..Hope your in for a better day tomorrow..

Unknown said...

OMG,Blue Bell, been awhile!Maybe Winn Dixie is calling me??

Carol said...

Tony, it's that low fat, no sugar vanilla, Blue Bell but it is Blue Bell and I cover it with some chocolate shavings.

Unknown said...

Carol, got you. When i have it i put Walmarts sugar free chocolate syrup on it,terrific and better than Hershey's!I also still love my Blue Diamond almond milk with the syrup!

Carol said...

Tony, I looked for that almond milk and couldn't find it around here. We don't have any almond cows round here.

Unknown said...

Wally world has it here and Public and Winn Dixie! Its not a dairy product really but has all the good stuff and only 40 calories vs 90 for skim milk! Blue Diamond the ones that have the real good almonds..

Carol said...

I know Tony. I was just kiddin but we don't have any at Wally World or the other stores that I frequent. I surveyed the entire milk/fake dairy product section and nada.

Carol said...

And I'm even watching Keith O. I am a little queezy..

He wants the BB call reversed.

That Ump admits he had the perfect angle to see and make the call and still screwed it up. Huh?

Unknown said...

Wow,its very popular here!Maybe you could ask your local grocery to give it a try.I like it because its not dairy but has all the benefits..

Carol said...

Coreen, Selig got worst person in the world tonight.

Carol said...

And Governor Granholm proclaimed that the pitcher pitched a perfect game!

Carol said...

Coreen, I'm requesting that the Swamp make an appeal for justice and requesting that our most ardent BB fan here do it?? Maybe a little post for tomorrow?

Carol said...

I can try that Tony but I'm not sure it would be popular here. We aren't known in these parts for being very evolved in the area of nutrition...

I went out to a meeting, and came home, and found MC-G's went out for the evening to her now-former College roommate's new apartment, and Hubs is working on MC-G's jigsaw puzzle, and there are no sounds - no television, no guitar strumming, no dogs barking (that won't last long), and it's peaceful, quiet, and serene. What did I do to deserve this? Whatever it is, I want to keep doing it. lol

Ivy Green said...

You all have it right, I fear, about Joran VdS. It was obvious five years ago when Natalee disappeared in Aruba that Joran was a malignant narcissist whose father abused his own legal power as a judge to shield his son from justice. Now the father is dead, and the son continues as a possible serial killer. I hope his latest victim gets the justice that Natalee was denied. Sadly, her death was turned into a circus and a farce, but a real tragedy happened. The yellow ribbons that blanketed this town for months are gone, but pain of it has not healed.

Carol said...

Just took the Magster out and I see my two boys, the Mallards, are out on the wharf together tonight. That made me feel good.

I've been seeing Mr. all alone alot recently. He looks lost and lonely. He will stand at the end of the wharf looking up and down the river saying, wack, wack, where are they? It breaks my heart. He'll come eat a little corn and then go jump off the wharf and go out seaching.

Occasionally both the boys come by together but Ms. M. hasn't been anywhere around for several days. She must be off doing the maternal thing or trying to again. She laid some egg a while back but then for some reason abandoned the nest. I think she prefers hanging with the boys. She just might not be cut out to be a mamma duck....just a party girl.

Carol said...

I still thank Anderson Cooper for his coverage of this disaster. He is trying to keep them honest. Now even Racheal has gone down there. Thanks to both of them. We certainly can't trust many others.

It is so hard to watch.

jan said...

Chloe, We are seldom in company any longer that we are younger than those around us -LOL-

We go through Amarillo so often that I have come to like the town. I see Amarillo differently since I read that Georgia O'Keefe loved this part of the country when she came here (some little town around here) when she was a young woman. In a bio about her she said she loved the "barrenness" of it

jan said...

Carol, sorry to hear you had a bad day today. Hope tomorrow is better for you -it is Friday tomorrow.

jan said...

We went out to the mall in Amarillo tonight - walked around and found a movie theatre there -we saw Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. It was a really interesting movie- we both enjoyed it.

New Thread!

Thanks Jan. It will be.
